Two adult men with developmental disabilities are seeking a compatible live-in companion who will share their three-bedroom apartment in a very nice neighborhood located in Astoria, Queens. They are seeking a live-in companion to help them create a comfortable home and satisfying home life. They are seeking a warm and outgoing person who enjoys an active lifestyle. The roommate must ensure that the men are safe and healthy, and also create the feeling of a real home, where three people are sharing their lives.   

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following tasks:

  • Assisting the men with laundry, shopping, meal preparation, budgeting, and other daily activities, including help in the morning as they get ready for the day and in the evenings to prepare dinner and take care of household tasks.
  • To assist the men in becoming involved in community activities and in developing friendships with neighbors and community members.
  • Maintain positive relationships and frequent communication with families and other service providers.
  • Administrative duties such as completing casenotes, saving and itemizing receipts, petty cash reconciliation, billing, checking medications, and managing their weekly schedule with community activities.

Qualifications: High school degree and at least one year work experience in social services/other experience supporting people with disabilities.

Salary: $26,160/year plus Free Rent, non-exempt

Benefits: Health insurance, dental insurance, STD/LTD/Life & AD&D, Work/Life Assistance Program (EAP), ability to contribute to pre-tax commuter and medical FSA plans, 403b pension with employer match after two years of employment
