Direct Support Professional - Community Habilitation

A young man with a great sense of humor who loves to cook and is an avid sports fan is seeking a direct support professional to work up to 20 hours per week. An ideal candidate will be warm and outgoing and will share the young man's passion for good food, sports and exploring the city. The staff will help him in the community and in the home – with cooking, cleaning, and community exploration.   

The individual has had previous incidents of aggressive behavior when in a stressful situation.  Staff should also be comfortable to work with bodily fluids.

Compensation: $25 an hour

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Assisting with laundry, shopping, meal preparation, budgeting and housekeeping (household chores, simple maintenance – changing light bulbs, etc)
  • To assist him in becoming involved in community activities and in developing friendships with neighbors and community members
  • Completing time sheets and monthly summary notes, meetings with direct supervisor

Qualifications and Benefits: 

  • Minimum education experience – college degree or currently enrolled. Prior experience with adults with disabilities a plus. Work/Life Assistance Program (EAP), ability to contribute to pre-tax commuter and medical FSA plans, 403b pension with employer match after two years of employment
