We are looking to hire a direct support professional for 8 to 10 hours a week in our self-driected program, working with an individual who has been taking steps towards a more independent life. He needs assistance and coaching in his daily life to manage his new apartment, to manage his health and hygiene, to manage his bills and to help navigate the various responsibilities of living on your own in NYC.

We are looking for staff that is incredibly well organized and has strong administrative skills, as well as a staff person who is comfortable with helping to implement and maintain a structure of schedule and goal focused activities.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following tasks:

  • Assisting individual with maintaining a clean and organized household
  • Grocery shopping and preparing healthy meals together
  • Managing and helping to manage financial goals of paying bills on time and keeping to a  budget
  • Assisting with healthy eating and work out goals – going to the gym together, for example
  • Helping individual to manage important paperwork, including receipts and bills
  • Completing biweekly timesheets and monthly summaries

Qualifications: Prior experience with adults with disabilities a plus, but not essential. We are seeking candidates who enjoy active, "people-oriented" work and are sensitive to the needs and preferences of people with disabilities.

Salary: $20/hr
