Job Path’s Community Connections program enables people to develop strong connections with their neighbors and communities, find volunteer jobs, pursue continuing education, and develop skills by providing individualized, community-based support. Community Connections is expanding to include weekend support.
Job Path is seeking a Program Assistant who will be responsible for coordinating support and supervising a team of Direct Support Professionals. The Program Assistant will also be responsible for assisting the Community Connections department in training incoming DSPs and providing shadowing opportunities.
The ideal candidate is reliable and flexible with their schedule, able to work in person on weekends, displays leadership skills, and has an in-depth knowledge of the community based support for people with developmental disabilities.
Program Assistant will be responsible for training new staff, which includes shadowing, teaching them how to work with participants, how to do administrative tasks, etc. They will also be responsible for covering shifts as needed.
Reports to: Weekend Program Manager

Location: This hybrid position requires at least one day per week in Job Path's midtown Manhattan office, availability to travel throughout the city to provide support and engage in community development. Remote work is also available.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following tasks:
Coordination of Services
- Manage a caseload assigned by the Weekend Program Manager.
- Develop working relationships with the people we support and the people close to them to gain an understanding of their goals and preferences.
- Creating and maintaining support schedules, coordinating both face to face and virtual services.
- Attend Life Plan Meetings, update Staff Action Plans, oversee implementation of the habilitation plan, reviewing and updating them as needed to ensure that people are involved in activities that are meaningful and that they enjoy.
- Research activities for participants such as volunteer opportunities, classes, events, etc.
- Provide coverage for shifts as needed.
- Work in conjunction with the Weekend Program Manager, and the Directors to ensure compliance with billing, internal and external quality assurance requirements.
- Facilitate in weekend groups, outings, and programming in and out of the community.
- Provide support coverage as needed, must be available to support face-to-face in the community or virtually.
- On Call duties when Weekend Program Manager is unavailable (i.e. on vacation, sick, etc).
- Collaborate with Weekend Program Manager to develop meaningful activities for people receiving weekend services.
- Schedule and supervise direct support professionals who are responsible for the implementation of people’s plans and activities.
- Provide training and ongoing supervision so that staff understands how to provide quality support, Job Path’s values and practices, and understands how to complete administrative responsibilities such as timesheets, casenotes, and monthly summary notes.
- Model appropriate support and teach processes to incoming DSPs and DSPs who are being trained to work with new people.
- Complete evaluations for Direct Support Professionals and provide regular feedback on performance.
- Assist staff in exploring neighborhoods and identifying volunteer jobs and community activities that meet each person’s interests and needs.
- Facilitate in weekend groups, outings, and programming in and out of the community.
- Approve staff timesheets on a bi-weekly basis.
- Approve Medicaid billing documentation daily, following through on corrections.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma and equivalent of at least two years of experience in working with Autistic people or people with developmental disabilities
- Preferred two years of experience with community development and social work
- Be flexible in their daily schedule
- Excellent time management skills
- Displayed leadership skills
- Be able to work independently
- Ability to lead groups of people to participate in activities
- Be highly sensitive to the needs and preferences of individuals and their families
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Excellent human service planning skills and ability to engage a broad spectrum of community members in planning efforts
- Ability to collaborate with team members
- Knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft Suite
- Ability to complete admin tasks and documentations punctually and accurately
